Coastal Oregon at a Glance
Coastal Oregon is noted for its phenomenal ocean scenery and its long, wide beaches
that are generously distributed down the Pacific coast. Beach vacations found
in this area are vastly different from those found in Florida
or California, as Oregon's
beaches are largely unspoiled. Visitors flock to destinations, such as Beverly
Beach State Park and Historic
Nye Beach, where an emphasis placed on the natural beauty of the oceanside
rather than on commercial attractions typical of larger beach resorts. Regional
sea-faring museums, such as Garibaldi
Museum and Oregon
Coast History Center, tell the tales of historic vessels, famous characters
and local history. Coastal Oregon boasts a number of unique destinations, from
the natural preserve of Haystack
Rock at Cannon Beach to
the West
Coast Game Park Safari, where visitors can walk around with wild animals.
Major centers along this coastline include Lincoln
City, Seaside, Newport,
Coos Bay and Brookings.
